jmeans23970 Posted February 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2012 I am about to book my first RCCL cruise and was wondering if I can get some help. I have never cruised Royal Caribbean, and mainly cruise Carnival. 1. What are some major differences in the line? 2. What are some things I should know about RCCL? 3. Does anyone have any secrets or tips to share about RCCL?

I have never cruised Royal Caribbean, and mainly cruise Carnival. 1. What are some major differences in the line? 2. What are some things I should know about RCCL? 3. Does anyone have any secrets or tips to share about RCCL? I say go for it! Just took my first cruise on Royal in December and loved it! Royal and Carnival are more similar then different, but there seemed to be a bit more class in the overall atmosphere on Royal. Food quality seems to be about the same, although I don't care for Carnivals new menu. What ship/sailing are you looking at?

sunnysavannah Posted February 1, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2012 We've done Monarch once and the sister ship, Soverign (that is now retired, but used to sail that same route) 3 times. Great cruise. Check out the all things Monarch thread.

jmeans23970 Posted February 1, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks, that really does help a lot. Does anyone have any tips in general? Like when my friend was going on her first cruise, I let her know a few things that she might not know like you can order seconds in the dining room, etc. Stuff like that. Do you guys have any specifics tips for RCCL? Maybe an old thread someone knows about?

matj2000 Posted February 1, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2012 Why do people always ask about "secrets, tips, & tricks"? I really don't understand what people want. The Cruiseline doesn't have a secret handshake or unannounced times & places that gets you free drinks or anything like that. The only people who get the perks are the ones in suites and the frequent cruisers. And they already know what they get. Read the little daily flyer, do the things you like, they put everything out there as public info. Go experience the cruise & the ship firsthand. If you have done Carnival, its almost the same thing...
