Just off Ruby and she is healthy!!!! No mention of Noro all week. Just some minor precautions which were lifted Thursday. Staff and crew were excellent!!! So out going and eager to please.Just ask and you will receive. Food better than I have had in years aboard any seven day ship out of Ft. Lauderdale . If your not already scheduled on the Ruby, then make it your next cruise. More details to follow.

C742 last stateroom on port side is without a doubt the best Cat BB. That little extra triangular space along with the angled wall makes the balcony a lot more spacious. If your very lucky Mario will be your Stateroom Steward. A sweet soft spoken handsome young man from Mexico. He is always so happy to see his guest's and will make you feel like family the moment you board. Any request is speedily taken care of with a smile and a "thank you sir.".....Room service was top notch. All items ordered were correct. Suggestions were made to enhance your selections. Delivery time was quick. Usually 20 minutes.

Arrived at the Michelangelo first night around 8pm and requested a private table for two. We were told a 45 min wait which we did not mind. Our pager went off in 30 minutes. Asked again for quiet table for two as we were celebrating our 12 year anniversary. Augusto escorted us to table 237 which we loved. All the way in back of the dining room. Our wait staff was the best I have ever encountered at sea. So gracious and extremely knowledgeable at the fine art of dining. Yet also fun and engaging. Again any request ( as with all staff and crew on board) was cheerfully and quickly provided. We had intended to keep this table the entire week. Unfortunately, I have some swallowing issues that kick in sometimes when I eat certain foods. Being on vacation, loving everything about the dining room and all the delectable choices I got carried away. So, the rest of the trip I had to eat more sensibly, slower and quietly. The aft pool area outside the Caribe Cafe around sunset was the perfect relaxing spot to enjoy the rest of my meals. Also the stateroom balcony.

Every single staff member, crew member always had a pleasant greeting and were eager to engage in conversation. You could see it in their smiling faces that they all were very happy to be living/working on the Ruby and truly enjoyed interacting with their guest's during the week.

Great posts!

We are also on next weeks cruise. I enjoy the positive posts here. It's hard to have a bad time on a cruise. You don't have to cook, clean, do chores, just pretend to be a millionaire, and get pampered.

Looking forward to it!

We are on our patio trying to get some rays on our white bodies. It's actually very hot here in the sun (Arizona), but a beautiful day!

The food on the Ruby I would rate very good. Quality was so much better than expected. Dishes that stood out during the week were: Prime rib and filet were thick, juicy, hot and cooked perfectly in the MDR. This as cruise food goes is rare these days. All pastas were cooked perfectly and hot. The eggplant parmigiana was my favorite. The lobster tail was perfectly cooked. Almost unheard of on board ship. All vegetables and salads were crisp and fresh. Ask for the garden salad or steamed veggies which are both not on the menu( no advanced order). Desserts taste like dessert. Sweet, rich, cold, creamy. Those chocolate chip cookies are still and will always be the ultimate bedtime snack....I also have to say the pizza was as good as it's going to get on board any mega ship out there.......My before dinner drink choice was a glass of ice cold Korbel Brut. I enjoyed the way each server had his or her own unique way of uncorking the bottle, then pouring it effortlessly into the chilled glass. Pina Colada fans should seek out Dulcinea at the tradewinds bar.

Did not get off the ship at Princess Cay because of the cold front that was still passing through. St. Maarten went to Antoine on Grand bay boardwalk. Its almost to the end but worth the walk. Look for the blue umbrellas and ask for Cheeco. $15 for two chaise, umbrella and three beers. The food is great and the facilities very clean. St. Thomas we always head straight for Paradise Point early before the tour groups get there. A short breathtaking cable car ride up the mountain top followed by a million dollar view of the harbor, cruise ships and surrounding islands.Friendly bartenders, Cheep beer, good food, shopping, a nature trail and small zoo, clean facilities. There is really no reason to go anywhere else....Grand Turk, the water is so crystal clear you don't even need a snorkel to see the beautiful fish.

According to our local news media here in Fort Lauderdale there were still cases of noro on Ruby.

A quote from that article: " Her mother and then her 8-year-old daughter were both sick by the third day of the cruise and were told it was likely norovirus-related."

From the CDC website " The incubation period for norovirus-associated gastroenteritis in humans is usually between 24 and 48 hours (median in outbreaks, 33 to 36 hours), but cases can occur within 12 hours of exposure."

It would seem entirely possible (based on the median incubation period) that they brought it aboard with them....

How do you figure? The third day would be 48-72 hours. At any rate it doesn't really matter how the virus got there. It's there.

I am sorry for anyone who was ill on this cruise. I was shocked when I saw the news report this morning. There were no reports on the PA during the week that said anything about an outbreak on the ship. A video about proper hand washing was shown in cabin 24/7.That's it. I did not see or hear or speak with anyone who was ill. Horizon court went back to self service on Thursday. We did have what some people would consider very rough seas due to moderate gale force winds. We had a good bouncing around one night. I enjoyed it!

We, too, were on the Ruby March 4-11 and neither saw or heard of the virus. Precautions were everywhere and you couldn't miss not sanitizing your hands. The crew did a great job. There were a couple of rough days.

About three weeks before sailing I contacted Princess Access Office to request a hand held shower attachment. I do not care for the stationary shower head. An email confirming my request was sent in less than a day. I called to reconfirm a few days before sailing. An email was sent back in an hour. The ship had been contacted directly and my request was confirmed by the Chief of Housekeeping. I was instructed to the show the email to my stateroom steward upon arrival. The shower attachment was in place shortly after muster....Here's a hint: purchase a $3 suction cup hand held shower bracket at your local home store so you can rest the handle it at the ideal height for you.
