MikieF Posted April 25, 2005 #26 Share Posted April 25, 2005 To Druke I, I've been flying for 30 years, 20 with the airlines. Your assertion that cargo compartments are pressurized differently than passenger compartments is news to me. Are the dogs down there hypoxic? "Hisairworthiness" is correct. The cargo compartments of modern jet transport aircraft are pressurized to the same pressure altitude as the passenger compartments (and from the same sources), at least on the 707, 727, DC-9, MD-80, 757, 767 and 747...all aircraft I flew and checked on during my 36 years with TWA. Druke I Posted April 25, 2005 #27 Share Posted April 25, 2005 I stand corrected. I had been told by an airline pilot acquaintance of mine that the cargo compartments were pressurized to an average of 5,000 ft., while passenger compartment was pressurized to an average of 8,000 ft. He asserted that many of the smaller animals (cats & dogs?) transported down there had difficulty with the higher altitude.
