non cruise snorkeling trips?

Are there any vendors where you exit the ship that have less expensive/better tours than the ship offers? After reading about this island, we hope to snorkel here. Just wondering about other options than just snorkeling right off the beach or paying through the nose for a ship excursion. Has anyone done this? Is it even avail?

There are private tours offered. Simply walk along the beach past Margaritaville and you will see the signs along the beach.. Ask for Dwight Higgs from Papa J Tours or you can request a tour from the Grant who does the Parasailing.
