Transporation to Xcaret from Cozumel

Sailing Victory in October. Would like to go to Xcaret but maybe stay longer than excursion. What is transporation back to ship like. Has anyone done this?

If you are going from Cozumel to Xcaret, you will have to take the people ferry from the western end of cozumel to Playa del Carmen then take a taxi about 10 minutes south to Xcaret. I would allow no less than 2 hours to get from your boat to Xcaret, and then of course, 2 hours to get back. You would need to know the ferry schedule before you plan this b/c if you had just missed the ferry, it could be well over an hours wait before the ferry came back and left again. Depending on the length of your day in Cozumel, it may not be doable, and you may just need to book through cruiseline to assure that the boat doesn't leave you!
