Mullet to Maho

We are a family of four and we know we want to go to Maho and someone suggested Mullet Bay over Simpson Bay to visit. I suppose would take a taxi to Mullet Bay in the morning so we can hit lunch and watch the planes at Maho early afternoon before returning to our ship. I'm not sure we want to walk between the beaches with all our bags and I know the kids will not want to. But I through I read it's hard to get a taxi at Mullet? Do I simply tell the taxi driver who drops us off to come back at a certain time to take us to Maho?

You could always rent a car for the day. Others have suggested working with a taxi driver to arrange for your day. You just pay them a fee to be your chauffeur for the day. The main thing to know is that Mullet is fairly remote and that taxis don't generally just drive by... at least that's what I hear. I've only ever been there on a catamaran, which also goes by Maho to and from Great Bay.

Mullet Bay is not remote but it is not directly on a main street either. It is about a 5 minute or so walk to the Maho Entertainment area where there are resorts, stores, casino and restaurants. From there it is another 5 minute or so walk to Maho Beach to see the planes.

When planning our St. Martin experience, I thought that we would first go to Mullet Bay then to Maho. We ended going straight to Maho via taxi and spent the entire day there. The beach was beautiful! I glad that we didn't do Mullet Bay since our time was limited. You will love Maho! I do recommend taking a picture of a loved one with a landing jet overhead. I saw some pictures where people did that, and it was a great picture. We are going to have to go back to get this "once in a life time" photo. We didn't worry about an umbrella because we brought along one of those pop up beach tents. I also wish that I had brought our snorkels since on that day the ocean was cooperating.

Have fun!

If you thought that Maho beach was "beautiful" then you would probably think that Mullet is paradise. I love stopping by Maho for the planes. It really is a fun and unique experience and something that I find enjoyable over and over again. To me though it is not a beach that I want to spend more than an hour or so at on any given day. Maho can be greatly affected by storm surges which can temporarily leave the beach pretty destroyed. At times there is no beach there at all.

A combo beach day is a really great idea that can be done quite easily by taxi or even walking if you choose Simpson Bay or Mullet along with Maho.
