Cheap car rental, FLL

We are cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale on the "Liberty" in Feb. and am going down 2 days early and staying 2 days after the cruise. Can you rent a car at the airport cheap or should I just wait till I get to our hotel and then rent a car? What is the best company to use that isn't too expensive? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks... Linda :D

You should find out if a) the hotel has a car rental b) what car rental agency will have a free shuttle to the pier when you drop off the car.

We are going on Feb.4,2006 - 8day eastern caribbean. I just thought that there might be some car rentals near the hotels that we can get to easy enough. Since we will have 2 days before the cruise it might be nice to check out the area. We will probably take a cab to the cruise port on the morning of the cruise as we will by then have our group down there and go together.
