Shore Excursions not booked through Carnival

Recommended Posts

We are traveling on the Conquest 7/24, I am trying to find info on independent shore excursions for Jamaica, Cozamel and Grand Cayman. I have read that they are much less expensive than the ships. Also, I read that noise is a problem, I think that we are above the casino, anyone ever have any problems with noise from the slot machines late at night?

In Grand Cayman, we booked the Island Tour & Stingray City with Nativeway. It was a great tour and with only 20 of us, we really got individual attention and plenty of time with the stingrays. It is an excursion I'll do again with them. In fact we are looking at a Panama Canal cruise for next Spring & will probably choose the one that stops at GC so we can do it . They can be reached at : http://www.nativewaywatersports.com

You should check out the boards for the various ports of call. I recommend Carolyn Barrett and Barrett Adventures (http://www.barrettadventures.com) in Jamaica.

She will customize a tour just for you. We saw so much of the island and learned so much from her. We also had the best stories to tell afterwards! This was our favorite part of the entire cruise.

In Cozumel, we really enjoyed the Royal Dolphin Swim at Chankanaab. We used Cozumel Insider to book the excursion. It was expensive ($125 while cruise ship cost $170 I believe) but well worth it.

Don't forget to check out the excursions and prices offered by Carnival. Most, if not all, should be listed for your cruise on Carnival.com. Even if you don't book through Carnival, they give you an idea of what you can do at each port. There are also some excursions only offered through the cruiseline.....like the Canopy Tour in Jamaica. You cannot book this on your own, so if you want to do it, book through Carnival as soon as possible. I've noticed a few others that are very close in price to private operators. Then, of course, there are some that are way more expensive. You just need to compare.

Not sure about the casino noise......we could have been "upgraded" to that area, but decided to stay on the Riviera deck because I was worried about the noise. Hopefully, you'll be just fine; bring ear plugs just in case.;)
