Embarkation for Partial Cruise

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has embarked after the ship has sailed at one of the ports of call (partial cruise) and what is the embarkation process? Do you check in at the ship? Do they have a shorefront check in? We have already received permission from RCL to do a partial cruise (getting on the ship on day 3 and disembarking a day before the end of sailing). We have disembarked early before so that's not a concern but not sure how the embarkation works. Any help is appreciated!

IMHO: Depends on the port you are boarding...............US - Europe - Asia ...........and if there is a regular cruise terminal there or just a gate to access the dock.... RCI should give you full contact information. The easiest would be contact the RCI port agent and they will escort you to the gangway. Ship security will check you out and Guest Services will print your SeaPass. :)

BTW: Entertainers and crew board everywhere so it should not be a big deal for you no matter where it is. Enjoy :)

Never done it on RCCL but had to do it on Carnival back in 1998. We we on aSouthern Carib out of San Juan. Plane was late and had to catch the ship the next morning in St. Thomas. Missed about 12 hours on the ship. We were taken right on board, given our sea pass card, shown to our suite, and our luggage showed up later that night. Nothing was ever said about the muster drill. All in all, it was pretty painless. We ended up booking a resort for the night in St. Thomas we knew nothing about, turned out to be 4 Star, on the beach, and very nice. The stress of missing the ship is not fun, but it worked out for us. Obviously that was years ago, security has changed, muster requirements are tougher, and airlines have gotten harder to work with. As you have permission and are planning on arriving at the first port, hopefully it will go well for you.
