Newbies to cruising Alaska

Can anyone tell me if sea sickness is a problem on the Alaska cruises,are the seas generally rough, we are southbond in May 2013, my wife occasionally suffers, are there remedies on board, (apart from bags), or do we need to prepare beforehand.

The waters in the inland passage are usually pretty calm. I envy you. We loved our Alaska cruise.
