Transportation from Miami airport

Anyone purchase transportation from the airport to the ship from Carnival, even though they didn't book their flight through Carnival? How does it work? Are they waiting for you at the Gate?

There will people with Carnival signs either at the gate or down at baggage claim. Sometimes they afe there for more than one ship so be sure you go to the right one.

We always book our own air to Miami and just take a taxi to the pier. There are plenty of them and they are usually cheaper than Carnival's transfers. Then after the cruise, there are plenty of taxis to take you back to the airport. If I remember, the cost for a taxi is about $18-20. each way.
