drog Posted July 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2012 Has anyone done Playa Palancar? If so how does it compare to Paradise beach or Nachi Cocum? There are 20K in port the day we are there so I'm thinking maybe Playa would be less crowded because it is a little farther away, any feedback would be appreciated. It has been a few years since we were there. It was a twenty dollar cab fare one way. The place didn't start to fill until 10:00 and most people didn't stay past 2:00. I think that there was seven ships in port that day. It did not seem crowded. There were plenty of chairs and hammocks. Food was good drinks were cold and the service was fine. They offered a snorkel trip to the reef for $35 and we had only 8 people on the boat. All in all it was a good day and I would not hesitate to go again. Nachi only takes 100 people so you need to make reservations.

Palencar is nice and they won't charge you to use their palapas and chairs if you purchase food/drinks from them. Wear water shoes as it is a bit rocky in the water. Also, for $30/person ( I think that is the price) they will take you out in a boat to the reef to snorkel (great snorkeling).
