Rental car in cape canaveral

Hi we are cruising from New York in October with our 3 (almost 4) year old twin boys. Our first stop is Cape Canaveral. We have season passes to Sea World and were thinking of renting a car and driving to Sea World for that day instead of booking an excursion. Anyone have experience in renting a car in Cape Canaveral for the day? Which company to use, who has a shuttle? Is it worth it to do our own trip or will it be too much of a hassle?

We have rented a car on our last two cruises in Port Canaveral. I used Priceline to get the best deal. Both time we ended up with Hertz. They pick you at the cruise terminal. You do need to pay for a cab back to the ship since the office closes at 5PM. There was a taxi waiting for us. Beware, the terminal charges an extra fee for the taxis to enter which you have to pay. Another way Florida milks their tourists.

Hello We will be in Cape Canaveral on Aug 6 and have rented thru Budget, had a WORK PERK deal for $32 all taxes, and mileage. Their office and shuttle go until 6pm. Someone on another thread also mentioned that they will give you a card to call a taxi ($10)back to the ship if you are going to be later than 6pm.
