carmel Posted August 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2012 We are traveling with my parents. My mom hates swimming but I wouldn't mind it. I would love a suggestions - it is hard to ask specific questions as I am quite ignorant of Dominica even after spending a few hours exploring this thread. If I wanted to try out the sulfur pools but my mom didn't, is there some place she can be and enjoy herself without getting wet? What about where you walk up the river to see the water fall? Same issue? I'm trying to piece together a tour where my parents are happy (no swimming but something to do if I decide I want to get wet) and if there is a hike, nothing too strenuous. My eyes are crossing, I'm so confused. I also will have a toddler with me.
Ms411 Posted August 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2012 I went to the Botanical Garden when I was last there, and was so sorry that I hadn't allocated more time for that stop. It's HUGE and has so much to see and do. It's not too far from the cruise dock, though you should probably take a cab. Don't know how much the fare is, because I was alone and walked. But, when I googled for a link, I ran across one that might be better for your group - Papillote Tropical Gardens. Here are the reviews from Trip Advisor with some photos. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147282-d1486717-Reviews-Papillote_Tropical_Gardens-Roseau_Dominica.html That property is also a retreat with rooms and a restaurant, so I think some of the reviews are for the retreat/restaurant.
