Karysa Posted October 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2012 We were at Deep Bay on an excursion. Does anyone know if it is a public beach and if you can take a taxi there? Any imput would be appreciated. We went to Deep Bay this past march by taxi for $4 pp each way for the 5 of us. The Driver dropped us at the front of the resort inside the gates and we set a time for him to come and pick us up at. He arrived on time and we paid him for the entire fare on our return to port as per HIS request. The ride was 10 minutes or so each way. We walked through the main resort building and down to the beach with no questions asked. There is a gentleman renting chairs and kayaks ect. It is a lovely beach and there is a restaurant/bar and washroom facilities available.

Karysa Posted October 4, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2012 Thank you so much for your imput. It is very helpful :D You are welcome. One more thing if you see a 6 ft barracuda don't freak out. It's Charlie. We met him in 2007 and as of March of this year he still favored hanging out by the "floating" restaurant. We didn't see him on this visit but inquired about him and was told that he had grown 3 ft from the last time we had seen him. He is scarey looking but minds his own business. It was hysterical watching the little fish circle him. When Charlie moved so did the circle. :D

Karysa Posted October 5, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2012 YAY! I would love to see Charlie. I will look out for him :p Our DD saw him while snorkeling back when he was only 3 feet long. She was in shallow water, came up to readjust her mask and as soon as she put her head back in the water Charlie was inches from her face. She jumped up and started screaming and the lady wading nearby almost had a heart attack running out of the water. We all had a good laugh together over that one. :D He likes the shade of the restaurant so go look for him over there. Good luck and have a great cruise. Karysa Posted October 9, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 9, 2012 Thanks Karysa. We will go to Deep BayOntario Cruiser We went to Deep Bay in 15 minutes for $4 pp each way, came back to the ship for lunch and taxied to Dickinson beach which is the beach after Runaway for $3 pp each way and about 10 minutes in the oposite direction from the pier so if you want to you could do both. Enjoy your day in Antigua. :)
