tropicbird Posted October 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Question for ISA65 (or anyone who has been on the island within the past week or so). In a post a few weeks ago ISA65 mentioned the flamingos were leaving due to low rainfall causing their saline ponds to dry up. Seeing the birds is my #1 goal for Curacao when we arrive on Zuiderdam next week, so I was wondering if there was any update on where the birds might be hanging out, if indeed they have not all taken to wing and headed over to Bonaire! Thanks in advance!
Isa65 Posted October 18, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Hi Tropicbird, I just sent a message to friends of mine living in the area of Willibrordus/Jan Kok asking if there are (many) flamingo's in the area. In front of my house they are all gone as the lagoon has dried up. As soon as I get an answer I'll let you know. What date are you here?

Isa65 Posted October 18, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2012 My pleasure. I heard back from my friend and she says that there are flamingo's at Jan Kok! There are also some birds in the area of Kokomo Beach. If you go to Jan Kok / Willibrordus, do stop at the Landhuis Jan Kok, which is the home and workplace of painter Nena Sanchez. Beautiful view of the lagoon and her paintings are awesome. Have a wonderful cruise!
