Bequia tour operators

Bequia is very small, and you don't need a tour operator. There is one spot near the ferry landing (on the main street by the waterfront) where the taxis gather. The taxis, by the way, all seem to be small pickup trucks with seats fixed up for passengers in the truck bed. Don't let this put you off. So find yourself a taxi driver, agree on a price for what you want, and you're all set. A driving tour of the island will be slow because the roads are narrow and steep. But even so, it won't take more than a couple of hours. If you like, you can get your driver to drop you at the beach for awhile, then come back for you later. Along the beach near Port Elizabeth there are lots of nice restos and bars to have a drink or a meal. Bequia is very laid-back and relaxed, very safe and easy for tourists, so get in the mood and enjoy your day there.

They were able to call a specific guide for us (at their choosing) who was reputable and would ferry us over to Moon Hole. You MUST go see MOON HOLE. It is awsome! A home built into the rock of the island, sole out of rock...I've attached a photo I took from our trip there two years ago! :) It was a cheap boat ride over.

We just returned from a fabulous Seabourn cruise aboard the Spirit and our first port was Bequia. We found a wonderful gentleman to show us the island, make a few scenic stops, and visit the Turtle Sanctuary. His name is Guno and he is easily reached at gunsalvo@hotmail.com.

There is not much to do in Bequia, but a walk thru the town, a drink at one of the local restaurants, and a trip across the island is a great way to spend 3 or 4 hours in an unspoiled, untarnished land of great people. If not going snorkeling or scuba diving there, I highly recommend spending your time with Guno.

P.S. Ask him to sing for you and you will have an extra treat.....
