Lifelong Learning Program / Semester at Sea

A friend of mine will be joining the Semester at Sea's Lifelong Learning Program in early Jan and will be cruising solo for three and half month. We will throw a Bon Voyage party for her prior to her departure and would like to know what gifts we should give her to make her life on the ship enjoyable and easier? Sorry this is the closest board that i can find for such topic.

No one has any suggestions? I thought it should not be too different from World Cruise but I guess I was wrong...

I had never even heard of Semester at Sea for older adults. It is a very cool program. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I would recommend shipboard credits to use for incidentals on board.

Here's a couple of suggestions:

 

Power Strip

 

Over the door shoe caddy (can be used for shoes or other things)

 

First aid type of kit - could be one that you buy or put together - include various bandaids, tylenol, cold medicine, etc.

 

Hat for the sun, suntan lotion

I was given an oblong clock with I believe has 18 time zones on it. It also has a flash light on it. It can be switched from one time zone to another very quickly. In fact, I loaned it out to some one who had to make calls to the states because of a death in the family. It is an Eddie Bauer item, and previously it could be found on line for around $20 or a little less. I haven't checked recently to see if it is still available. I will not travel without it now.
