Golden Princess and Kids

We are cruising on the Golden Princess on 12/19/2005. Are there usually alot for the kids to do and are there alot of teens aboard. We will have a 12, 13, 17, and 18 year old with us. Also do they police the casinos alot?:)

That will be a holiday cruise and you should find lots of kids and teens onboard your sailing.

As for the casino, they do monitor it quite closely, Thankfully. I have actually walked out before and told them why when I see a lot of kids trying to sneak in and play the slots, it is just not the place for children to be playing. It is the one place on the ships where adults seem to be able to escape. (Sorry if you don't agree but those are my fellings)

We've cruised twice on the Golden Princess with our 3 boys, ages 9, 13 and 14. All my boys really enjoyed the kids program and my 14 year old loved the teen's program. They had a blast on both cruises. In fact, when asked if the next trip will be Disney or cruise, they all vote for cruising.

Regarding the casino issue - when we were on Grand Princess for a holiday sailing earlier this year, the casino staff was extremely vigilant about checking ID's. It's 21 or bust in the casino.

We were on the Golden the week of April 10- there were 75 kids total on board, and only 10 between 13 and 17. Our son and his friend had the best cruise ever- go figure. Their little group had a blast- my son sang in the kareoke night ( he has never done anything like that before) My thinking is 1: sometimes a small group is less threatening, and easier to bond with. 2: having his friend along helped- he was also on our last cruise, so they kind of knew what to expect (although it was on CCL). As far as activities, not much for their age group- but they did more than they had before. The lact of children on board, I think, was due to the itinerary ( explorer), with La Guaira/ Isla Margarita, Grenada ( ravaged by the hurricane) and St Kitts on the itinerary, also 5 ports in 7 days, it may scare families with smaller children- or lots of kids away. IMHO families like more sea days, a home port that isn't so expensive to get to, or stay in pre-post cruise. As a group- 2 families- 1 with 5 cruises in 2 years- the other first time cruising/ any big vacation- we all loved the ship, crew, food, entertainment and itinerary. I say go for it!
