Hampton Inn - St. Charles Ave - Garden District

I am searching for reviews on the Hampton Inn - St. Charles Ave - Garden District. I understand the hotel has an open parking lot. Is this a safe area and how is the hotel itself. Also does anyone have any idea what the cab fee would be to the port? Are cab rates per person or by the car? Thanks for your help.

Stayed here two years ago pre-cruise. The hotel is nice..a typical Hampton Inn. We parked in the lot and had no problems...seems like an OK area. I heard that the streetcar runs somewhere nearby so that might be a more economical option than a cab. There seems to be a lot of locals on the NOLA forum so maybe one of them can give you more info.

We are here at the hotel now---arrived yesterday afternoon. The hotel is quite lovely, not a typical Hampton Inn. The employees are great. The breakfast was good. The parking

seems perfectly safe. It isn't covered, but it is fenced and gated. We aren't concerned

about our car.
