MagentaandRiffRaff Posted January 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Just back from the Oasis! A few comments, sorry no pictures right now... Getting on board. My only complaint was the treatment by an older gentleman who escorted us to our seats to wait to get on board (we got there early). We were instructed to "sit and not move" until he told us to get up. One poor mom was trying to settle her toddler by pushing him in a stroller and was continually told to "sit down." When we could finally board, easy and fast! Crowds? Not that I saw....it’s amazing how there could be 6000 other peeps and not feel as if there were that many! Even in the theaters...so many places to hide from everyone! Cabin...balcony suite...no issues at all. Room spotless and clean. Room attendant wonderful! Major hot water! MDR: Overall I did feel that it was not as good as the smaller ships. That said, it was edible. Some meals were okay and others wonderful! And we were treated to escargot the last meal! No major complaints. Service was spot on. Izumi: Loved the food, service wonderful, and cooking on the hot rock fun! We did not do the other restaurants as we had on other cruises. Park Café: Loved the roast beef sandwich! Soups and salads were wonderful. Nice place to sit and relax. Loved central park! Rising Tide Bar: Loved the blue martini. I would definitely take that ride and drink again! Boardwalk: Fun. Aqua Show: loved it! Would have loved it if it came with subtitles. Still do not *really* know what it was all about. :) Comedy Show: Loved it! “Come Fly with Me” INCREDIBLE SHOW!! Do not miss it. Hairspray: Wonderful! I totally enjoyed, and could relate to the topic. Took me back to high school. Casino: Walked through only. My family liked...I spent my $$ in other ways. Cruisers Behavior: This is one of the many things that I found to be unsettling. This is the first cruise I have ever been on where there were an abundance of rude people. The typical lounger hogs (which for the most part was identified by the pool attendants and towels were removed from the loungers). The "I have to get in the elevator fast before you get out." Pushing people to get in line first...one man even pushed a small little boy down to get into the line! Not sure why there was so much rampant bad manners. Camera people: At times annoying and pushy, but told once, “No thanks” they did back off. Donut Shop: depending on the time of day, donuts either fresh or not so much. It didn’t deter me from eating them tho! Starbucks: Nice to have… Labadee: Nice day. Rented the mats. I enjoyed floating…Food good. Jamaica: Iberostar Resort. Nice place, however in the original excursion description it mentioned a lazy river. When we arrived at this resort we were told that the lazy river was at the “other sister” resort?? Traveling to the place the driver announced he would pick us up at 4pm. By the time we got there he changed it to 330pm because he wanted to “make sure we got back to the ship on time.” This would have happened if he picked up us at 4pm. Not that it was a major deal, but if we were paying for 5 hours, that’s what we should have gotten. Cozumel: Spent the day at Playa Mia Park. GREAT food and relaxing! Lots to do and see. Well worth the $$$. Would I go again? Yes, as this is the first ship I KNOW I did not see it all. I have no choice. I must do this ship again. LincolnLog Posted January 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2013 "Sit and not move"? Wow that's weird. Like you we're being punished or something! How early were you there?
ChipLondon Posted January 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2013 What it is about is the skill of the performers, it has little to do with a story line, it is visually based because of the potential language difficulties.:) Great show Aqua Show: loved it! Would have loved it if it came with subtitles. Still do not *really* know what it was all about. :)

Yes, agreed. He was just someone who wanted things to go smoothly and remain organized. His approach was just a little rough.

liljay6915 Posted January 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Laughing and loving your review. I was the mom with the toddler. And I agree they were crazy before boarding about not moving. You would think they would prefer me strolling to a screaming toddler :)
rmacsc1401 Posted January 13, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2013 I was on the Mariner of the Seas a few years ago, and I loved the fresh orange juice machine. You had to pay for this juice, but it was delish!! Can you tell me if they have this on the Oasis? Thank you!

I shall try that next time. I'm not sure he would have any idea what to do with an ansy one year old.

It sounds like he didn't have much idea of what to do with a bunch of excited adults either.
