Theme Cruise? Does it matter?

Just found out the cruise we booked, Jan. 5th 2014, Nieuw Amsterdam, is a theme cruise, Dancing With The Stars. As someone who has only cruised once before, I have no idea if this is a bad thing or not. I have nothing against dancers or TV shows about dancing, but how, if at all, does a cruise having a TV show theme affect the cruise experience for those not interested in the "theme"? I did check out the Theme specific forum, but nothing there to really answer my question. I did find out that this DWTS specific theme is a repeated event, so maybe not a big deal. More curious than worried.

Too bad it's not a Parks & Recreation or Sherlock themed cruise, I would be all over that thing. :D
