SoFlaCruzer Posted February 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2013 We are sailing the Independence end of March, and my family always likes to sleep with a cold temperature setting and cover up under blankets and comforters. Ideal for us is 68 degrees. I know that may be a bit crazy for some of you, but we live in South Florida (will actually be like 86 this Sunday), and we are used to having the AC blasting most of the year. How cold can you get a cabin to go? I am thinking of taking a small table fan to compensate as needed.
Clarea Posted February 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2013 We were on Indy last December. Maybe it was just our stateroom, but I could not get the stateroom as cool as I would have liked. I did talk to the stateroom attendant, they had one of the maintenance crew come up and check, and said it was fine. Years ago I had no problem getting the stateroom cooled down, but not anymore. I've been told by 3 different Chief Engineers that the ship uses more fuel for A/C than it does for propulsion, so I suspect they are limiting the amount of cooling as a cost saving measure.
