I used 3G on my Kindle on a beach in Tortola, to download a book. I am not very technically minded and another cruise passenger guided me through how to do it.

Must say it was very simple and I was amazed that laying on a beach with chickens wandering round that I could do this!!!

Almost every port there was free WI-FI and you would see all the crew down in the port at some time or another using Laptops, Ipads etc.

Must be so much nicer for them, now being able to keep in contact with loved ones back home.
