Crouton Posted June 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2005 "VALENCIA, Calif., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The smartest look this summer embodies the timeless elegance of ocean travel. Lilly Pulitzer's collection "Hail to the Queen" is the first-ever clothing line inspired by an ocean liner, Cunard's iconic Queen Mary 2. The signature print is a tribute to vintage travel trunks, featuring nautical details, images from exotic ports of call and tropical flowers in traditional Lilly Pulitzer bright colors. The collection is available in stores now and comes in array of styles including cotton dresses, skirts and capri pants." http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/06-14-2005/0003870689&EDATE=
QueensFan Posted June 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2005 I actually do not get the QM2 connection here. My mom likes Lilly Pulitzer clothes - not really the flowery stuff, more the solids - and she gets the catalog. When I saw it in the post, I immediately pulled it out (probably one of the few, if not the only, time I have ever been excited about a women's clothing catalog). I know what Lilly Pulitzer clothes usually look like, having been through many department stores containing them with my mom. The "QM2 Themed" line looks no different from any other Lilly Pulitzer line. Maybe it's because I'm a guy, and guys don't notice these things as well as women do, but I thought they all looked the same. Also, I cannot figure out the connection between Pulitzer and Cunard. Lilly Pulitzer seems like the polar opposite of Cunard. How did this partnership come about?
