Lechat Posted May 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2013 Hi, has anyone taken the 9nts RCL ports of call are Rome, Naples (Capri), Catania (Sicily), Valleta, Malta, Corfu (Greece), Kotor Montenegro, Split Croatia, Koper Slovenia and Venice Italy. Sorry but so many questions... Need help with Hotels near FCO airport ($under 200/nt) planning in overnighting before taking a private car to Civitavecchia the following day to board ship. Is there anything to do in Civitavecchia during the following day? While in Naples we would like to visit Capri- please advice on best way to do so, RCL tours vs on our own? Also advice on things to do or avoid in the other ports since those are new to us. Should we take only euros and CCs? Also, advice on hotels (under $200nt) and must Do in Venice. We are planning on an extra 2 days in Venice. Best way to transfer from port to hotels in Venice. Thanks
paylady Posted May 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2013 The Port of Call Board should be most helpful with your questions. You can either do a search on the threads contained in the link below or post a new thread as you did here. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=

lilybob Posted May 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2013 Also check the "Ports" forum for Europe for info and to ask specific questions. Don't forget to also use Trip Advisor for even more info. I have been to many of these ports and it sounds like a fantastic itinerary! Have a great cruise:)
H2Oregon Posted May 2, 2013 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2013 If you have never been to Rome, try and figure out a way to spend a couple of days in the city before the cruise. Rome is a not to be missed city, Enjoy
CAT GIRL Posted May 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2013 What a wonderful trip. If I may offer another thought. I think Rome is one city that you want to pay the cost to stay in a hotel in the think of things. We stayed by the Pantheon and everything is within walking distance. You could save money by not doing a private car and taking the train to Citivechia. Or hooking up with people in your roll call for a cheaper option for the transfer than the private car. In Rome there is so much so do and see, even if it's just strolling around and having a gelato, I'd want to be staying in the thick of things. In Naples, you can easily take the ferry over to Capri. The ferry leaves right there by where the ship docks. We did this last time with absolutely no structured plans. On the ferry ride over there was a tour company that offered a tour for like 20 euro per person and we did that. It was a great and scenic day. So, yes, Capri is very doable on your own. Lechat Posted May 3, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted May 3, 2013 I found the roll call section with some folks doing the same trip, it should be fun. Yes, love Rome! Thank you for all your tips.
The BarCarres Posted May 3, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2013 Great trip I am envious. Taking the ferry to Capri is easy and a nice way to spend the day. Venice is amazing and you will love your two days. We stayed out of Venice and bussed in, moving luggage around Venice isn't easy so really research the hotels. Somewhere close to the train station is good.
