Hi, anyone sailing on this cruise? We always check out the friends of Dorothy but usually no one there. 2 women in 50's from Toronto. We are frequent cruisers and would love to join anyone for a drink. Buys and gals. Cheers!:D

We were on the May 6th sailing on the Carnival Sunshine. As expected was a bit rough with stuff not complete, but one thing that was impossible to get beyond was a particular comedian who does Carnival ships. On our third day out of Venice, this guy's act was about objectifying women based on their breasts. Then he made a comment "The group I hate the most in this world is Gay men". He went on to stereotype us into one of two groups: Nellie where he described, in details, the mannerisms, then said the other "type" was the athlete, like a cousin of his that was so masculine that you would never expect that he was gay. If that was not enough, he said how disgusting it was for a man's testicles to be in your mouth etc and went on to provide detail on how we have sex and how deplorable it is. It took me days to get to the cruise director who hid due to all the serious problems on the ship with toilets not working or overflowing, ceilings leaking etc. Finally I sat with him after he failed to respond and I escalated it over his head. He told me that Carnival does not have any control over what a comedian can say. I asked if it was ok for one to talk that way about blacks (he was black), Jews, or disabled vets, and he said of course it is not ok. Needless to say, most men stayed away from subsequent Dorothy gatherings that I had to initially requested as it was not calendared. On a ship filled with people including those in countries where we hare hated, prosecuted, and killed, the last thing we need is a hate speech. Last thing you can do is get up and leave during the act as it would make it worse. The matter is now with Gerry Cahill, CEO, who sent me a mail that was waiting for me at home when I got back to Palm Springs. ..They wanted to give me money/credits to calm me down but I told them that this was not about money. They credited my cruise 20% anyway. If you want more details of who it was then contact me at tyincc@aol.com. as they will not allow me to identify him on here. I requested it between 2 PM and 5 PM on the sea days as other days ot would interfere with dinners seatings and the shows. They did it at the Alchemy Bar.
