daju22 Posted May 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2013 Our 2014 cruise is embarking in Hamburg and debarking in Copenhagen. Does anyone know of accessible hotels in these ports? We must have a roll-in shower. I just wondered if anyone on the disabled board has found a good hotel that is handicapped accessible with a roll-in shower. We can't use a tub. I'm starting research now for June 2014. If no one has any recommendations, I'll start searching on the European boards. Thanks.
katisdale Posted May 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2013 We stayed at the Radison Blu in Copenhagen. The room did have a roll-in shower however I would not recommend this hotel. It had the roll-in shower and the toilet in the same area behind sliding glass doors that automatically closed if they were not held open while moving into the area. Of course the floor got wet while showering which made using the toilet difficult. Also the furniture, while beautiful, was very modern and low to the ground which I found very difficult transferring to/from.

It sounds like the floor would be slippery in the shower/commode area. I could help with this, but the low bed is a big problem. Thanks for the review. Guess we won't stay there. I wish Trip Advisor had an area for accessible accommodations. I think Hotel.com has an accessible choice, but you still have to contact the hotel. Thanks again, Judy

You may try "Booking.com" they have a search engine for disabled accommodation, although their photo section lacks any pertinent information, regarding bathrooms.  Cato :) Completed Cruises ! daju22 Posted May 26, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted May 26, 2013 Thanks Cato, I'll try Booking.com. I ended up looking at tripadvisor. The Hilton airport hotel doesn't have accessible rooms, but they have a grab bar by the commode and a walk-in shower. We can use that if the bar is on the left of the commode. I look at the pictures that people take of the bathrooms and decide if we can use the room. This one may work as long as I request a room with correct bar placement. Boy, wish we could use Hotwire or Priceline and just book a room at the hotel site. Oh well. Thanks a lot for your help.
