tanneddiva Posted April 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Is it better to drink ice cold water rather than room temp water when you're trying to shed a few pounds or does it really matter? I prefer cold water but will drink room temp if I have a bottle sitting somewhere besides me. Guest Posted April 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Some say, cold water is better, but as you know every article you read says one thing and other something else. I think the main thing is to drink the water. I don't care for the cold water except when I got out to eat. I drink more when I drink room temp. from the bottle. So I think it is what ever you preferr. As long as you drink it.
kimned88 Posted April 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2004 actually, i read an article on this....the scientific results came in that drinking ice water does, indeed burn more calories than room temp....the bad news is that it is not really enough of a difference to make a bit of difference. sorry 35 down, 186 to go gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now.....hurry december!!! kim scandanavian cruise line 1987 cape canaviral - 1995 carnival jubilee - sept 2002 CARIVAL VALOR - DEC 26, 2004 (2ND VOYAGE FOR HER) days to go!!!!!! <a href="http://www.escati.com/counter98/free_time_codes.htm"> </center>
PINEVIEW01 Posted April 22, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Kim I read a similar article, the same scientific results. But, they said it was one of the little tip to help as every "little" bits helps. So, just in case I add the ice. I really perfer less cold water. As Belle said the main thing is to get that water consumed. Diva70 Posted April 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I read somewhere that the body burns somewhere around 100 calories...or 130, I can't remember...to bring the water up to the correct temperature for digestion. Something like that. Anyway, worth a shot, right! LOL ~Holly
kimned88 Posted April 24, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2004 ok, i stand somewhat corrected, i guess it really depends on your definition of making a difference, according to the article at... http://science.howstuffworks.com/question447.htm drinking 64 ounces of ice water everyday will burn approximately 67 calories a day, which adds up to about 7 pounds a year. i found the same info on several different sites. either way, ice or no ice, drink up ladies, and gentlemen!
