Braking on zipline

Hello! We were planning on doing a zipline (South Shore) on Roatan, but my 19 yr old son broke his right hand and is still in a cast. How does the braking work? Is it different for different lines? Any he could do with just his left hand?

Reading the website for pirates of the Carribean their Zipline brakes using gravity not a hand brake. Watching some of the YouTube videos it looks like it slows itself.
