mmjbsboomer Posted June 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Want to get a necklace for me and nice souvenir for teenage daughter when we cruise week after next. Out of Grand Cayman, Jamica, or Cozumel, any suggestions about the best locations to shop for silver jewelry? Appreciate the tried and true wisdom of fellow cruise critics! Thanks so much! goldminer1951 Posted June 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Boomer- We found some really good deals in Cozumel two years ago. Be prepared to bargain some. There a lots of shops at the end of cruise ship dock, but prices in town and in the resorts around the island are a little better. Buy silver goods by the gram. Lots of the jewelry has nice semiprecious stones which go for the same price per gram as the silver. The only problem is there are too many different designs to pick from:D. Have a wonderful cruise! serene56 Posted June 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2005 I agree with Cozumel. THere is a lot of shops that sell just sterling silver. Grand Cayman was the most expensive port I ever visited.
CaribbeanBlue Posted June 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Mexico specializes in Silver products especially those items made in Taxco. The cost is very reasonable, in fact this is about the cheaperst place on earth to buy silver jewelry and dining items. Try to buy the solid silver items not the hollowed out items. It should feel substantial for its size in your hand. You can also get some really great deals on silver trays and tea servers etc. CaribbeanBlue http://www.*****.org
