Rosefloater Posted July 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2013 On Catalina, we go to Lloyd's for Salt Water taffy. If you are lucky, they will be pulling some and may offer you a sample right from the machine. For lunch, we like to go to Coney Island West. It is a hamburger/hot dog stand between the Green Pier and the Casino. Great food, low prices. In Ensenada, we like to eat at Taqueria Lindo (next door to Hussong's) for Tacos. We like to sit at the bar. There are a few tables. A few doors from here, there is a paleta (ice cream) shop. They sell hand scooped ice cream and popsicles. The place looks like they are remodeling, but they aren't. As of March, there was no name on the outside, but there are a few tables on one side and the ice cream is on the other side. We also like to eat at Potrero Viejo. We get the Gorditas. Here is their info and menus on TripAdisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g150770-d2654188-r160418543-Potero_Viejo-Ensenada_Baja_California.html. When we go, we are usually the only Americans there. It is very close to the port. It is on the corner of Riveroll & Segunda (walk on A. Lopez Mateos; make a right on Riveroll; walk 1 block and restaurant is on the right. If you look on google maps for Ensenada, at the street level there is a Hertz sign and Potrero Viejo is 2 stores down with the green awning.) These places take American $ and speak little English. We don't pay the checks with large bills because they don't have much American money on hand.
