Air Tahiti Nui stopover at IC Tahiti

when booking Air Tahiti Nui from LAX to AKL, there is an offer for up to 3 nights "run of the house" at the IC or the Meridian for $540 per couple. With our regular flexible reservation made on IC online $719.34 for lowest priced room for 3 days. There is a good savings. The stopover rate is not flexible and would be forfeited unless could change for $50 fee. Of course our flights are now not changeable without big fees.

 

Questions: Anybody done this and did it work? Which hotel Meridian or IC? Any Ambassador members and can you use those benefits? I filled out the paperwork but the session timed out before I got it all worked out. So what do you think?
