Silversea to Australia & New Zealand

Has anyone traveled to Australia and New Zealand on a cruise. There are 5 out of 15 days at sea. Is this a great disadvantage because you are missing land opportunities to see the country. Can you compare it to Tauck or A & K land tours?

we have cruised Australia, & New Zealand, many times, will be doing it again in January. We always fly to either country & pick up the ship there..We feel it gives us more time in the country, and is a $$ saver as well.( comparing the daily cruise cost to air flight charges)

A cruise 'round Australia, like almost anywhere, will be a good way of getting a taste of the country but you'll see less than you would on a land tour. That may make it more of a vacation, less of a route march; or OTOH you might feel that it's too superficial. Depends on what you want from the trip and whether you might return for a more in-depth visit at a later date.
