Hello again everyone!! We are now up to Day 7, and our 3rd Sea Day…….

A797.jpg

When I woke up and pulled the curtain aside, I could tell that it was going to be another beautiful day. The seas were as smooth as glass!! I could tell that the sun was just coming up, but since we were now sailing north, I couldn’t see it. I quickly got dressed, and went up to Deck 10 to grab a coffee, and take some pictures….

Afterwards, I went back to the cabin, where I found Patti preparing three bags of dirty laundry to send out. Since all three of us are Platinum, we could send out up to nine bags free, but the three bags were all we needed since we know not to send any clothing of value down there. Anak collected our bags, so Patti and I went up to the Lido for breakfast.

Ryan met us at breakfast, and afterwards he and Patti went to the morning four game bingo session. I found out later that Patti had won again!!! This time it was “only” $100. But her winnings for the cruise so far were $1,000. Not to shabby!!!

I went down to check our emails, then spent the rest of the morning walking around, bar hopping, and taking a few pictures. The one thing that I did notice was that the upper decks were not as crowded as our last sea day on the way down. I guess after what could be three beach days, a lot of people didn’t feel the need to be out in the sun.

The Splendido Pool…..

Seaside Theater and waterslide…..

Ketut, yet another friendly bartender at the Splendido Pool bar…..

I wound up at the Liner Bar, Deck 9 Aft, so while there I grabbed a sandwich from the Deli. It was now around 1pm, so I wanted to go watch the Super Trivia down by the Lobby Bar. Shot this picture of the Lobby from the top of the Atrium….

Once at the Lobby Bar, I met up with Patti, who told me about her latest bingo win, then snapped this picture of me enjoying a Thirsty Frog Red……

The 2nd Slot tournament was now going on in the Casino, so Patti and I went to try our luck. Neither of us would wind up qualifying for the final. Oh well, you can’t win them all!! Patti went to go find Ryan and go to the afternoon five game bingo session. Though she needed just one more number a few times, she didn’t win. Gasp!!!

I spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening playing blackjack. Patti snapped this shot of me entering the casino to do battle!!!

I did VERY, VERY well this time, insuring that I would be leaving the ship with some of their money, even if I lost a little bit the rest of the way. To celebrate, I went next door to the Our House Sports Bar for a thirsty Frog Red.

A821.JPG

Afterwards I went back to the cabin to hang out and relax until it was time to get ready for the 2nd Elegant Night. Patti was already on the balcony watching the sun sink lower in the sky. Oh No!!! I see that our debarkation info has arrived!!!

Patti had bought Ryan the How to make the Towel Animals book, and here are his first two creations…….

Ryan is dressed for the 2nd Elegant Night. He would spend the entire evening with his Club O2 friends.

Another beautiful sunset……

That’s me on the balcony……

Tonight, we had another excellent meal at the Gold Pearl Restaurant. The service was really top notch! I had the shrimp cocktail, corn chowder, grilled tiger shrimp, stuffed peppers, topped off with baked Alaska. Patti had the grilled tiger shrimp for he entrée, and her usual butter pecan ice cream. Tonight, the wait staff danced Gangham Style….

After dinner, we went back to the cabin and found that our laundry had been returned in four bags……..

Our latest towel animal was just hanging around!!!

I changed into my bathing suit and headed up to the aft hot tubs, which I had almost to myself. It was a simply beautiful night, with a nearly full moon.

Patti went to check out the shops before they closed, then spent some time in the internet café. We both arrived back at the cabin right around midnight, ready for a good night’s sleep. I have no idea what time Ryan came back. Good for him!!

Coming up next: Our FINAL sea day, or I’m not ready to be home yet!!!

I'm loving your very informative and fun review, in fact, I would rate it in the top five reviews I've ever read on CC. And Patti's pics are wonderful. Your review has been so interesting and I'm now feeling the last sea day feeling, too, when the debarkation info is laying on the bed. I hate to see this cruise come to an end. It seems I've been on this cruise right along with your family. Thanks so much.

I notice you are from Somerset, NJ and this brought happy memories to me, as our family has spent many a night at the Crowne Plaza in Somerset for the four years my son attended Rutgers University. That's where we stayed when we would come to visit several times every year. Loved it there--it was just a short five minute ride to College Avenue. He graduated two years ago and is now living in Jersey City and working in Manhattan. Fell in love with a Jersey girl, too. I really miss Somerset and New Brunswick, though.

Thank you so much for your comments!! As I'm setting up the pictures and text for the last sea day, I'm feeling sad all over again, because just like the cruise, this review is nearing it's end. It has been a lot of fun reliving it all over again!!

We love living here in Somerset and we are just a couple of minutes from the Crowne Plaza, off Cedar Grove Lane. I've read that this is one of the top 25 places to live in the US. Don't know about that, but we are happy here. Patti is a Rutgers alumni, and teaches in New Brunswick.

Your pictures are fantastic. I can't wait to get on the Splendor in just 11 days!! What type of camera did you use?

Most of the shots were taken with our Sony DSC-H10. We also used our waterproof camera which is a Fuji FinePix XP60 for those in water and other shots.

You will have a GREAT time on the Splendor!!

Thank you so much for this great review. My family and friends are sailing on Splendor Oct. 16th. We had a pre-cruise picnic last weekend and we spent some time reading your review and sharing the info. with some first time cruisers at the party. We love your sense of humor and pictures. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your review, but I'm feeling that "cruise coming to the end" feeling too. Enjoy you last day:(:).

NO Calypso music on the Lido Deck! Say it isn't true....

When we sail to the Caribbean we enjoy lounging by the pool listening to steel drum and the calypso music playing island music....with a foofoo drink in hand :D

That is Allen, he may not be a Calypso band, but he is a really nice guy

I just have to remark on this because it kind of scares me. You are leaving Boston in mid December to drive to Manhattan and you are imagining a "casual drive of 4 hours" which includes stops? I imagine it IS possible, but this just scares me. You COULD have bad weather then and there is always the Christmas crowds in the city on top of the "regular crowds." Just sayin'.....I wonder if it is possible for you to drive down the day before, you could see the Christmas lights, the Rock Center tree, the window displays and have a relaxing embarkation on the ship. ;) Just MHO. Good luck and have a great cruise! :D:cool: I went to college up near Boston, in Beverly! Sorry for the highjack, Jamman. :o
