Easy way to get to the Space Center from the port?

Our cruise is stopping at Port Canaveral on the way down to the Bahamas. I really really want to get over to the Kennedy space center, but at $100pp as an excursion it seems pretty steep.

Is there a shuttle?

are there car rental places at the port to rent for a day?

what are my other options just to get over there?

heck, are there bicycle rentals? it looks like only a few mile bike ride, that might be a nice way to stretch our legs.

If you don't want to take the ship's excursion, then a rental car is probably you next best option. Several rental car agencies at the port with free shuttles.
