sasi cruiser Posted July 8, 2005 #26 Share Posted July 8, 2005 I was on this ship May 22, Boston to Bermuda April 18, I was on Dawn, NY to Bahamas, July 31, I will be on the Majesty again Boston to Bermuda. I talked about this ship so much my husband had to come to see what the fuss was all about. This is a great ship for my husband, who happens to need a wheel chair to get around. I took note of this because where there were a few steps to get from here and there, there were ramps. It is a very well maintained ship, a clean ship, very neat looking, very friendly, and from the captain on down you can see they are very proud of this ship.I think there will be a much younger crowd then there was in May along with a lot more children. I did get to have lunch and dinner in the in the SevenSeas dinning room, and dinner in the Italian restaurant, food was very good. Did have the sushi for lunch, would do it again. The entertainment was good, one of the shows had a salute to broadway tunes, very nice. I was on deck nine in a suite, with concierge. Suites are very nice. I will be on deck seven (handicapped cabin) One of the nice things about seven, is it has a sitting area. The cabins yes are small, ( not to much time spent in cabins). The ship is not huge,( no rock climbing ) two pools nice set up,one is a adults only pool. There is a nice coffee bar with a cozy sitting area. I have been on smaller and can't tell the difference, except when it comes to doing all the walking you have to do on the larger ships. The casino was having a change over re: the slots. Did do some day time crafts, trivia (rainy day silly stuff) etc. Rendez-Vous lounge is where everyone liked to hang out, large screen tv, sports, a good drink and lots of laughs. For me the ship is the vacation it can do any port. Freestyle, I feel lets you personilize your vacation, you make your own good time. Going to Bermuda is the cherry on top of the whip cream. Enjoy your trip. This is a wonderful ship. Age as they say is only a number. Have lots of fun, make lots of memories.Enjoy this ship, she is a dying art. If Elvy Rose is on the ship to entertain us do not miss her show.:)
Welove2cruise2 Posted July 9, 2005 #27 Share Posted July 9, 2005 Have to agree with sasi cruiser and most previous posters! The Majesty is a great, Small ship, easy to get around, the the crew is the best I've encountered on any NCL ship! Because it's a smaller ship, with less passengers the crew have a "little more" free time to chat, and it's a great thing to do! You get to learn so much about that crew member; where they're from, how long they've been with the ship and NCL, and their impressions of "ship life" -- quite an eye-opener! We love chatting with the crew; we didn't find much time to do that on the Dawn, but we did on this ship. Very clean, well maintained, and again, friendly crew! I think you will LOVE this ship! She will be missed when she moves on to Star, so enjoy her while you can... :(

Manugit Posted July 9, 2005 #31 Share Posted July 9, 2005 I forgot to add about the cabin. We went with a JJ Superior Inside--cabin 3035. It's 145 sq feet. I wouldn't go any smaller. It was enough room for 3 of us but barely. It does have a lot of storage though. The bathrooms are teeny, tiny. Even small by cruise ship standards. LoveH20...we are 4 in a JJ, any tips ... Im 6'1 and 280 pounds, teeny tiny scares my son and I  , both big/tall and broad sholders... We figure get up early do your thing and get out of the cabin. Bberry Posted July 9, 2005 #32 Share Posted July 9, 2005 We are going on the Majesty this Fall and my parents are staying on deck 7 in the handicapped cabin. If you are going before November I would very much appreciate your feedback on the cabin. I would also LOVE some photos of the cabin and the hallway and elevator in that area. I don't know if that's possible but if it were it would be wonderful! My dad (who will also be using a wheelchair) is hoping to be able to sit on the Promenade deck just outside his cabin and enjoy the view. I am wondering what that particular area looks like as well. This is our first cruise and we are very excited! There just doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there about these cabins. Thanks :D
TPFilm Posted July 9, 2005 Author #33 Share Posted July 9, 2005 Would like "real" pictures of Majesty's inside cabins. Also, real opinions on the cabins, too. Also, would like "real" pictures taken around the ship... showing the ship as it is enjoyed by real passengers... Not the staged photos for the cruise lines and various cruise reveiw websites. Thanks.
Bberry Posted July 9, 2005 #34 Share Posted July 9, 2005 Have you tried Webshots.com? You click on "Community" and then put in search criteria like "Norweigian Majesty cabin"...there aren't a lot of photos of the cabins themselves...but there are a few if you look long enough. Also there are some really good "real" photos of people on the Majesty...I just can't seem to find any of the handicapped cabins. I am hoping the OP will be able to come through during their Majesty cruise.:D

sasi cruiser Posted July 10, 2005 #36 Share Posted July 10, 2005 Bberry, I will be taking pictures and taking lots of notes of the handicapped cabin on my next trip on the Majesty. From what I understand this is a small cabin 145 sq. feet. The handicapped cabin on the Sea was 149,(inside deck 4) and on the Crown it is 160 (outside deck 8)and on Dawn 279 sq feet.(inside deck 11), Dawn deck 10 259sq ft.and Dawn deck 8 obstructed view. was the smallest on the Dawn but still had the nice large wheelchair accessible bathroom. The bathrooms in the cabins are wheelchair accessible/ a seat in the shower, with hand rails to hold on too. They are quite large. We did not have any problems in any of them. The Majesty is handicap friendly and very accessible. When you are walking about he ship you will come across a few steps do not fret, there are ramps too. I was checking the ship out in May and I just new my husband would be able to get around just fine. :)

mailbroad Posted July 11, 2005 #41 Share Posted July 11, 2005 I am really condsidering this ship for October 9. I will tell my hubby after I book it. We really liked the Dawn in June. The Majesty would be nice because we live in VT can park the car with a relative and maybe get a ride or take the train to the port ane the fare seems right...I have done a little searching about prices. Now, I just need to work some more overtime to pay off my last cruise! lol Will know definetly by the end of August. I love all the info I can get on this board and some of the discussions are very amusing!
SerenadingSarah Posted July 11, 2005 #42 Share Posted July 11, 2005 Sasi, good for you! The 31st is right around the corner! Have an excellent trip and tell all (well not ALL) when you return! ;-) -Sarah
Fat Jack Posted July 11, 2005 #43 Share Posted July 11, 2005 I read this entire thread and as a first time cruiser (august 2005), I have done alot cutting and pasting of all the great info and suggestions. We were looking big and flying from Boston to florida for Mariner of the seas but many have expressed the charm and advantage of a smaller ship that is run well. Great info and will continue to watch threads time draws near

LoveH20 Posted July 11, 2005 #45 Share Posted July 11, 2005 LoveH20...we are 4 in a JJ, any tips ... Im 6'1 and 280 pounds, teeny tiny scares my son and I  , both big/tall and broad sholders... We figure get up early do your thing and get out of the cabin. My husband is 5'10" about 235 and while it is quite possible to shower. You might feel a tiny bit claustrophic before you can get out. You'll be fine. We did like you're planning to, get up early, get in and get out. All the bathrooms are the same size unless you spring for a suite on the Majesty and I can't justify paying that much more just to have a larger bathroom. There's very little room for storage. Somepeople take an over the door hanger with pockets to hold items. We just left everything in a dresser drawer that didn't absolutely have to be in the bathroom, lotions, dental floss, hairbrushes, etc. By the way, it may or may not be important to your family, but the hairdryers stink--no power. Next time, I'm taking my own, then I can dry my hair out in the room instead of the tiny bathroom too. Like I said you'll be fine, but you will sure appreciate your home bathroom after 7 days!! Hope you have a good trip.
