Change of name on reservation

Has anyone ever had to change the name of the person staying in their cabin with them? My friend who was going to go with me on my cruise may not be able to go and I was wondering what the rules were about changing passengers. Thanks.

According to how you booked (TA, online, cruiseline), there may be a charge for changing names. Carnival direct bookings - if it's prior to final payment, no charge. If after final payment, there will be a $50 charge to change. Don't know about other booking venues.:)

We changed the name of a passenger directly with Carnival after we recieved our docs. They charged 50.00 to my cc over the phone. We receved new docs in about a week.

As long as the ship is not sold out, it shouldn't be a problem... do it as soon as possible. As mentioned, if you are close to your sailing date, you will probably be charged $50... if you booked with a TA, you may be charged that anyway.

I was told that the name change had to be done prior to 48 hours before sailing - so best to do it ASAP
