I was 8th in line at the bank yesterday....waiting and waiting, as someone was buying travelers checks!

We no longer use them, either....I still have some from about 10 years ago.....

:D

We take cash in LARGE bills...much easier to transport, divided between hubby and myself. The ship will break down large denominations, if you need smaller bills.

When we used Travelers Checks, years ago on our first two cruises, we always had quite a bit left over. I always just deposited them into our account once we got back. I felt like I was getting free money :D . Lol

We like to have $1000 dollars for a cruise. $100 per day plus tips. If we have a hotel to pay for we add that to cash needed. On our last cruise we used the cash to pay down our Sea Pass Account so we ended up with just a small amount on our credit card. We pay for excursions ahead of time and that helps to keep our cash need down. We also paid for specialty restaurant ahead of time. So our bill was our alcohol, souveniers, tux. That's about it.

I prepay the cruise, the gratuities, and the excursions. Then I total up for dog boarding/grooming, hotel, gas, food on the road, parking, tips, onboard spending, casino, dining and shopping. I save that much and put it in my savings and take out the cash needed and put the rest on credit cards. I have always had some left over when the bills come in but, no worries on the vacations as all is paid for ahead of time. If I do make an unexpected purchase (like my watch last time) that's on me and the budget. Happy sailing to all and remember to always be kind.;)
