Carnival Triumph Review

I just got off of a 4 day cruise on the Triumph. It was absolutely amazing. I was a little nervous because of some of the reviews and also because I just cruised the Magic this past May. But, it's VACATION- so I firmly believe that you should enjoy yourself and not stress about small things.

We stayed at La Quinta which was about a mile from the port. It was only $80 and super convenient. We had no issues here at all. It's not super fancy but we basically just needed a place to sleep. We had dinner at The Spot- Delicious. If you have time, I would highly recommend it. The Calamari was probably some of the best I've ever had.

We did purchase Faster to the Fun. I felt like it was worth it because I like to board early and get my vacation started as soon as possible. We did receive an email telling us that due to maintenance they wouldn't be boarding until 1, but we showed up a little early anyways. They started boarding at noon and we were on the ship by 12:10. Our room wasn't ready but our room steward was in there cleaning it. Once he realized we were there, he finished up and went on his way. Our luggage got there within the next few hours.

We had a balcony room- #6379. Okay, So I stayed up pretty late every night but if I would have wanted to go to bed early, it would have been impossible. This room is right above the casino and also kind of close to the atrium. From my bed, I could hear every word coming out of the singers mouth. Good thing she was a good singer. ;) But, if you are looking for a quiet room- this is not the one. There wasn't a refrigerator but we could order buckets of ice from room service to put our wine/cokes in. Our room steward never filled up our ice bucket, I'm not sure if we should have left him a note or what. But it wasn't a big deal, nothing that couldn't be easily fixed. The room had a queen size bed and a pull down bed. They made the couch into a bed during turndown. The couch was small but it was super comfortable and I sleep curled up in a ball anyways. Probably wouldn't be so good for someone who likes to really stretch out because I'm 5'3 and my feet hung over the end of it.

Food- Guys burgers were the highlight, by far. Soooo good. The french fries were so tasty and there was never really a line. If there was, it went super fast. We had tacos one night at the other place and they were pretty decent, nothing too special.

Breakfast buffet/omelets were delicious. I never ate the buffet during lunch or dinner so I can't really comment on that.

We had anytime dining and loved it. Dinner in the dining room was usually pretty good. You can't really complain when you can order as much as you want. If you don't like something, just order something else. They bring out replacements very quickly. Service was great, they always knew our names and were very polite. Do not miss out on the warm chocolate melting cake, it is to die for.

I can't say enough about the bars and nightlife. They were all so much fun. The comedy shows were hilarious. They filled up really quickly so if you plan on going, I would get there about 20-30 minutes early. Drinks are a little cheaper in the comedy club, like you could make a drink a double for $3 more instead of $6.50 or whatever the cost normally is. I feel like the people on this cruise were all just so much fun. Everyone was so friendly. It was definitely more of a party crowd than the 7 day cruise I went on. The drinks at the Alchemy Bar were amazing. If you just tell the bartender what flavors you like, she can mix you up something amazing.

Cozumel was perfect. We did not book through Carnival because I feel like they are pretty overpriced. We got off the ship and grabbed a taxi that took us to an all inclusive beach. I think it was called Ocean Beach VIP club. We paid $110 each and had unlimited food and alcohol all day. That also included para-sailing. Without the para-sailing, I think it would have been $50 each. We had a blast there. They did walk around trying to sell stuff but they never really harassed you.

Debarkation was a breeze. We were off the ship in like 10 minutes and on our way home.

I know this review was pretty brief but if anyone has any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them for you. :D

The weather on the first sea say was nice but a little windy. It wasn't warm enough for me to want to lay out. The weather in Cozumel was absolutely perfect. The water wasn't cold or anything and it only rained for like 10 minutes. The sea day on the way back was pretty nice, it did start to get a little chilly though. I enjoyed the weather and would definitely book again in December. Just Bring a light jacket for sea days. :)
