Peggyd.73 Posted January 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2014 This will be my fifth cruise but I usually just book and take whatever cabin I'm assigned. On my last cruise, my table mates at dinner were talking about purchasing an upgrade after final payment on their original purchase -- but I'm not sure how that works! Question for the experienced cruisers out there. I booked an inside guarantee for a cruise this March and would like to understand how I can best watch for and possibly purchase deals on upgrades if / when prices change. thanks for your help! Use Royal's website to do a mock booking of your cruise, i.e., go through the booking process until you can see the pricing. If you see a stateroom in a higher category than you have, and you like the price, call whoever booked your cruise and ask to move. If the price of the upgraded stateroom is less than or equal to what you have paid, and the price is not restricted to new bookings, then you should be able to move for free.
