Montreal - Quebec

Considering CNE cruise in Oct from Quebec to Fort Lauderdale. Airfare from Detroit to Quebec and Ft Lauderdale to Detroit extremely high. The flight requires multiple layovers in route to Quebec. We could fly to Montreal and train to Quebec. The air to Montreal is about $300 cheaper and flight schedule better but after adding the train fare it's about the same. Is anyone familiar with taking the train from Montreal to Quebec? Any idea of the cab fare from the airport to the train station ? Thanks for the help.

What date are you looking at, and what kind of pricing are you finding for the train? Even if that $300 saving is for 2 rather than per person, I would think you could save by taking the train.

There's a shuttle from YUL to Dorval train station, where you can pick up a train to Quebec City, although the Via Rail site is only giving me one option/day. If the timing isn't right, you can take the airport 747 bus to the downtown train station (Gare Centrale) for $10/person. A taxi would be $40.

The train actually puts you at a much better spot in Quebec City for your cruise - in a pinch, it's walkable from Gare du Palais to the cruise port. Lots of boutique hotels in the area as well.

Writing this out, I just remembered - there's a direct bus service between YUL and Québec, also arriving at Gare du Palais. Cost is $68.30/person.
