I booked springHill downtown the day b4 the cruise. According to the map its 1/2 mile from the Spaceneedle and 1 mile from port. Just wondering if anyone has any remarks about the hotel. I have not seen any thread or comments about this hotel and was wondering if I made the right choice. It was only $149 w/Free breakfast. I was told a taxi to the port the next day is a flat fee $10. Pics looked nice w/small living room ....thanks all

It might be half a mile from the Space Needle by crow, but there's a pretty substantial hill you go down (or back up) along the way. It's not really downtown; it will be a fair schlep to most of the tourist attractions.

I don't know about "flat rate" taxi rides. Maybe it's something the hotel has negotiated with an operator. Note there are two cruise terminals in Seattle, one (Pier 66) on the central waterfront just north of and below the Pike Place market, and the other (Pier 91, aka "Smith Cove") a couple of miles farther north along the waterfront. I'd be surprised if anyone offered a $10 cab ride to Pier 91, but maybe.

This might be the same 'cab ride' we got from the Homewood Suites last cruise GL - it was $5 per person there, but that was just a five minute ride to pier 91 - where a local cab firm used their minivans to shuttle folks to the pier. Filling a minivan at $10 per person from Springhill will net them much more $$$ than going by the meter, even if they're kicking half back to the hotel.

L2G - if there's only 2 of you this deal will be convenient and maybe save a couple of bucks, but if you are a party of 3+ I'd just call my own cab and use the meter as the fare may not even break $20 to either pier...

And if they do actually mean they'll call you your own cab and it will cost $10 jump on the deal - that will definitely save you some money!
