digital_curator Posted July 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2005 We are planning a trip to Curacao on an upcoming cruise and do not want to spend our whole trip shopping if possible;) Has anyone bought Curacao liqueur in Curacao? For how much? And is it cheaper at the distillery than in other stores? Thanks in advance.
ETyndall Posted July 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2005 We were there in June. We bought 3 bottles for around $20.00 ( may have been a little more, but not over 25.) We bought it on our way back from town from the street vendor very near the ship. They had packags of three and let us mix and match the flavors we wanted. Hope this helps. digital_curator Posted July 28, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted July 28, 2005 Thanks for the info! What flavours are available? I thought it was just an orange flavoured liqueur:confused: Cheers
Dushi Posted August 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2005 The orange-based one comes in several colors (orange, yellow, green, blue, clear, yellow). The flavors I bought last time were coffee, rum raisin and chocolate.
digital_curator Posted August 13, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted August 13, 2005 Yummy! Which was your favourite? Can you sample them in the shops or at the factory before you buy? Cheers,
born2cruize Posted August 22, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2005 You can sample the different liqueurs at the factory. As was mentioned Curacao Liqueur comes in 4 or 5 colors but tastes the same. In addition they have a coffee liqueur, chocolate liqueur & rum raisin. Curacao Liqueur is made from a Green Orange that because of the soil does not produce an editable orange. This information was from the factory tour we took in 2001.
Marlster Posted September 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Could you please tell me if you found someone at the pier to take you to the factory? Marlene
born2cruize Posted September 27, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2005 We were on a ship's tour. However outside the pier were many taxis. I'm sure they will take you there. The factory is very small (the taste room) so either try to beat the ship's tour there or wait until just before lunch or late afternoon. Hopefully it will be less crowded.
