Taxi question for costa maya

When taking a taxi outside the gates in Costa Maya, where do we tell the taxi driver we want to go if we want to go to the beach and shops is it Majahual. I haven't been here in over 7 years, so I am assuming a lot has changed since then. Is the beach nice here and do they still have shops to walk around. Thanks for any help!!!

Many get off at Tequila Beach, we went a little further to go to Tropicante and the Malecon. Tropicante is a great spot, no reservations, good food and drink and nice water). Here's a map showing the Malecon and various beach bars.

We didn't want to walk all the way to the taxi stand down the road and paid $1 more pp to take the A/C bus. Tequila beach is the first stop, Tropicante the 2nd. We probably got there sooner because we didn't walk out to the taxi stand.

You will see a lot of shopping along the beach at the 2nd bus stop where we got off for Tropicante. Just tell them Tropicante! :D

We're headed to Costa Maya in May to Tropicante. And it's ad visible to email Steve and reserve a spot ahead of time. He books up and only has so many tables and chairs.
