Sonatina1990 Posted March 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Going to the Mexican riviera, would it be easier and better to bring pesos or dollars? I have brought dollars before but think it might be better to take pesos this time? What have you all experienced? mylife4Jesus Posted March 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Have done dollars, as well.. Enjoy your cruise!
che5904 Posted March 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2014 We took both on our MR cruise. I think it all depends on what you plan to do. If you are sticking to touristy areas, then your U.S. dollars are fine. If you plan to be off the beaten track or in areas that may not accept U.S. as easily then take some pesos. Seanote Posted March 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2014 I have been to Cabo, Acapulco, Huatulco, Coz and Costa Maya and I have never found a situation where local vendors did not gladly accept my USD.
agabbymama Posted March 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2014 When I cruised to Puerto Vallarta, the vendors all preferred US $. I had purchased some Pesos and tried to pay a few times with them, but the vendors all said no, US. If I were to go back I wouldn't bother with Pesos. Rare kjquilts Posted March 7, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Use dollars .... they need to be clean (no writing on them) with no rips or tears.
cusecruise Posted March 7, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Definitely use U.S. dollars - you'll find you get much better deals bargaining when you are paying with dollars. Just make sure you understand the current exchange rates!
cliffd64 Posted March 7, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Most people in all parts of Mexico prefer US dollars anyway. You have nothing to worry about with US currency.
