Carnival Magic Trip Report March 2-9 with photos

I was wondering if you guys got out on time. I was at a Mardi Gras parade when it started rolling in.

Oh and that white building is not really that tall to begin with.

I took a picture of the same building when we returned. It may not be that tall, but it does show how much the fog had dropped down.

They had it when we sailed on Triumph a few months ago as well. I did notice though that after we had passed through, they called a few people over from the regular line since there were no more priority passengers behind us. Maybe that's what they did here and it got out of hand.

Looking forward to the rest of the review. Hoping to sail Magic one day.

Maybe it's just when we sail out of Galveston. They see our name on the list and say, "hey here they come again, lets bottle things up".

On this sailing were just the three of us, DH, DD, (age 12), and Myself. Hubby and I are platinum where DD was on her 9th cruise. We have sailed mostly out of NOLA. This was our 3rd time out of Galveston and we have sailed once out of Jacksonville, FL.

We have sailed on Conquest Class, Fantasy Class, (with/without the Evolutions of Fun), and on the Triumph.

This was our first Dream Class, and I must say I have a new favorite class of ship. More later tonight, off to work I go.

The Magic was very easy to navigate. Only floor three could one not walk from front to back.

Deck 3 had Guest services, the Magic Lobby, Shore excursions desk, and the lower levels of the main fwd and aft dining rooms, with the Galley in the middle. It also had the lower section of the Showtime Theatre.

Deck 4 had upper Theatre, Photo Area, (now called Pixels Gallery), Upper dining areas, a conference room, Circle C and Club O2 along with the Arcade. I'm looking through my pictures but can't find any of this area.

Deck 5 was my favorite deck. The Shops were on the forward end. Next came the Casino, good and bad: to get to the Ocean Plaza, one would have to walk through the Casino, which always smelled of stale smoke. The other option was to find the doors next to the Upper level of the Theatre and walk the Lanai. This was a better option. Why was this my favorite deck? Because there was so much to do or not do. Once I found this area, I had not need to go to the Lido Deck.

The Ocean Plaza is where Trivia and other games were played. There was also bands in the evening. Across from the Plaza was the Taste Bar:

In the evenings they would have sushi, tastes from the stake house, and Cucina Del Capitano. On seadays, it became an easy sandwich place. Basic bread, luncheon meats and cheese.

Also on sea days, just outside was the Oceanside BBQ, which had sliders, quesadias, tacos, chips and salsa. Only available from 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM.

Just inside around the corner from the Taste Bar, was the Salad Bar:

On sea days, we never went up to Lido to eat for lunch.

I'm not sure if these are in order. I hope it givs you a feeling for this deck. Loungers all around, nice seating, never crowded. Not even the hot tubs. Here we go.

Looking Aft, those clouds are the front we out ran.

For dinner we made reservations at the Steakhouse. If you book the first night, you get a free bottle of red or white wine. We chose a Red Merlot.

For starters, the chef gave us a bonus of some tomato soup:

I had the Ahi Tuna Tartar, DH had the Beef Carpaccio and DD had New England Crab Cake. Why I don't have pictures of those, I do not know.

Next DH and I both had the classic Caesar Salad:

Did not go to the "Welcome Aboard Show", been there done that. DD went to Circle C, (her first year, she had a blast). DH and I walked around a little bit, determined we were full and tired, so we went to bed.

Here is the Circle C schedule. I know it's hard to find one on here.

The first sea day, I went up here at about 10 AM. The elevators only go up to deck 12. You had to walk up the last two. Someone said there was an elevator in the Spa area, but I never found it. Not very crowded. Laid out to soak up some vitamin D with spf 30 for about 1 1/2 hours. Nice area. Started to hear the noise from the Waterworks area and Lido at around noon. Left to go to the Lanai.

At around 1 PM, I attempted the "Classic movie Quote Trivia". I do not wish to insult anyone, but lets say I do not consider "Dumb and Dummer" or and Austin Power Movies classics. I do not think they have any quotes on the AFI list. I did not do well got, 15 out of 20.

DH went to the washer toss then on to Corn Hole, (aka bean bag toss). While DD braved the Sky Course:

Tonight was elegant night, so after a photo with the Capitan, (who was in A Cherry on Top getting some sweets).

We went in line for ATD.

DD went to Circle C for most of the night, and DH and I enjoyed a little stroll then up to bed. Sorry, we are not into the shows/comedians.

This day was just like the previous day. I would like to explain the wonderful layout of the Lido Market Place.

Just outside on the starboard side is the Grill. For Breakfast this is where you found pancakes, waffles and French toast. Nice bonus, it had an omelet station:

IMG_0622.jpg

Lunch it had the hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.

Inside there were two areas both similar but it eased congestion. Plus, 4 more omelet stations. Plenty of seating. Never found a long line anywhere.

IMG_0722.jpg

IMG_0723.jpg

Aft area had a bar, the deli:

IMG_0720.jpg

And tandoor Wok:

IMG_0721.jpg

Pizza was outside, port side, opposite of the grill.

As someone who has lived in Southern Louisiana most of her life, Mardi Gras was nothing to me except a day off from work. I attempt to avoid most of the parades, and have enough beads to last a lifetime. But the Magic did a nice job of reminding me what this day was.

They had Mardi Gras mask Making at 9 AM which DD wanted to go to. Not a bad job:

IMG_0391.jpg

Then a Mardi Gras Party starting at 8:30 in the Magic Lobby:

Ugh, more beads. It was fun watching. The party continued into the Ocean Plaza.

We were very tired after it all. No show tonight. Went back to the room for some wine on the balcony and towel animal:

Thanks for sharing. Daughter really liked the dolphin pics.

Thanks. If we were on deck 6 or higher, we would either never seen them, or obtained those shots. I love those Cove Balconies!
