jerrib Posted March 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2014 I know that most of the beaches are black sand, but I heard that there were a few that were white. I would be interested in those providing they have facilities (chairs/umbrella rentals, beach bar/restaurant). Or this a pipe dream? Snail_Pace Posted March 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2014 There are no white sand beaches. There are sand colored sandy beaches near Calibishie but to get there most of your day trip would be in transit. If you must do a beach, then Mero is it, but it is black sand. There is another beach with some amenities near Portsmouth. That beach is also black sand and would also result in much of your day being spent in transit. Most of the beaches on Dominica aren't black sand, they're rocky. You really should take a tour into the interior and enjoy the mostly unspoiled rain-forest between the volcanic peaks. jerrib Posted March 24, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 24, 2014 Thanks for your reply. Researching online can be frustrating, often finding contradicting info. But thanks for heading me in the right direction, Mero sounds good. And yes I am also planning to see more of the island also. Right now I am interested in the Carib territory. Have you ever been there?
