sandrye Posted May 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2004 Hi everyone...my partner and I will be going on this cruise with our 9 year old son. I have posted Roll Calls on other boards and had not gotten many responses,so I'am very happy to see some responses here...I thought we were the only ones booked on this ship!!...lol...I do think it's great to have a cruise like this...where we all can feel totaly comfortable with ourselfs, display effection to our partners,be free about whom we are... without worry for any type of discrimination. Make some new friends which have the same lifestyles as we do. And most of all its a family cruise. We don't have to go to one of those over priced all gay no children allowed cruises. We don't like leaving our son behind,we actually love to have him with us!! Overall I think this cruise will be a great expeirence for all of us and we all can't wait to go!! Hope to meet some of ya...Tina & Sandrye
redspize Posted May 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Hello ladies and gents, My girlfriend and I well be joining you on this cruise. It isn't our first cruise but it is our first gay cruise. We have no children so it is just the two of us. I can hardly wait. This is a surprise for my girlfriend and she is going to be so surprised because she has no idea and she loves Rosie (almost as much as she loves me LOL). She told me how Rosie gave a cruise away on the View and if she could have only been there to get it. I'm sure you well be able to pick her out when we get there because she well be the one having the heart attack at the pier. Not sure of cabin yet should know later this week. Sure not many people posting, where is everyone? I have never cruised on NCL either. Had a cruise scheduled on NCL about 3 years ago but girlfriends grandmother died so we didn't get to go. My girlfriend and I have been together for 11 years and counting. Well be great to meet everyone. redspize Posted May 18, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Hi vespagirl, Great question!! I was going to tell her I got a great deal on a New England Canada cruise for that time and then surprise her with this one. She has alwaays wanted to go to New York so that is going to be the easy part. We are going to be driving to New York because she hates to fly and I used up my flight for the year a few weeks ago when we went to Florida to take a cruise on the Summit. Robin is one of the people on a plane with white knuckles and blue lips because she is so tense she forget to breathe. She well only fly once a year and that takes alot to get her on the plane. Since 9/11 it has even gotten worse. On 9/11 we where in Europe on a cruise, we were on the first flight back in the air after that and it took along time to get her back on a plane. I'm not looking forward to the ride but I am sure it well be worth it. Any of you guys from New York have any ideas on a place to leave a car for the week that doesn't cost the price of the car to get it out. We may go visit friends in Maine before going home from the cruise. vespagirl Posted May 18, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 18, 2004 As far as parking forget NYC, It will cost you an arm and a leg to park there. You can park in NJ for free and take a bus in or a car service. I live about 40 minutes from the terminal, in NJ and I can get a bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal for $7.50 and take a 5 min cab to the cruise ship, or for about $40 I can hire a car service to pick up my whole family at our house and drive us to the ship. You could do the same. Just park on the Boulevard and flag the bus, or arrange for a car service. Your parked car will be absolutely safe!
sandrye Posted May 19, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 19, 2004 Hello everyone!! To park at the terminal I think is $24 per day cash only!! Here is the web site www.nypst.com It also has contact numbers and some other interesting info. Depending on your situation it may or may not be worth it. If anyone is driving or taking a cab (like myself) to the terminal leave early, give yourself enough of time because you never know what traffic will be like here in the big apple. Sometimes its OK and at times its a nightmare! Here is another site that might be interesting to you www.geocities.com/ready2gotravel/nycruises Hope I was helpfull...Tina
redspize Posted May 19, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 19, 2004 Hi everyone, Thanks for your help with the parking. Vespagirl I don't know anything about NJ but would be interested in parking as long as it is safe, my partner treats the car like her baby. I would also like info on hiring a car to take us to the ship. I am really excited about this it is going to a blast I think. Does anyone know who is going to be appearing other than Rosie?? Got cabin on deck 10, went with inside since I just had cruise 2 weeks ago. Would have loved an outside as I haven't had inside since my 1st cruise but well make do. When I finalize my reservation today Kelli said the cruise was selling better that they were selling 2 or 3 cabins a day now. Kelli is also working on the 2005 cruise so we may have something to forward to. So what does everyone do?? I am a nurse and have been with my partner since 1992. I have two grow boys. I love to travel and cruise, Europe is my favorite cruise so far. Talk to everyone soon must run for now. Have a great evening. sandrye Posted May 20, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 20, 2004 Hi Respize...We are from Brooklny,NY. I'am a Kitchen Supervisor and my partner is a Resident Clothing Handler at a Nursing Home here in Brooklyn. July 8th will be our 4th aniversity together (2 years living together) We have a nine year old son. Also your car is safe to park at the terminal parking lot. It might be easier and cheaper rather than parking/car sevice from Jersey. I'am not sure check prices. There will be more entertainment on the ship other than Rosie (but I have no complaints if it was just her. I think she's great!) check www.rfamilyvactions.com and go to entertainment...they have a list of who's going to be there (some of them I don't know) I hope Elmo will be there!...lol...goodnight for now....Tina
redspize Posted May 20, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 20, 2004 Hi Tina Thanks for the info. I would love to get Robin to fly in and that would really solve many issues but don't think it is going to happen. Great way to celebrate your anniversary. Robin and I just celebrated our birthdays and did it on a Celebrity Cruise which was fun. I am sure your son well love the cruise also. redspize Posted May 21, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Hi everyone, Well things are starting to come together for me finally. My partner has agreed to fly. That is such a blessing because I wasn't looking forward to the car ride at all. She thinks we are going to New England-Canada cruise. I need some information on what is available to get from La-Guardia to the pier. I am really happy with the free dinning and no need for formal dress. I don't mind dressing up it is just packing and lugging the luggage around. I'm hoping one suitcase is enough this time. Has anyone made any plans for the ports. We were just in Keys West a couple weeks ago but I am looking forward to returning. This time I think we well rent a motorbike or car to get around. Don't know what we well do at Port Canaveral. In the Bahama's going to get cab to take us to Alantis. Well it is my day off and I have to get afew things done because it is my weekend to work. Hope everyone has a nice weekend. sandrye Posted May 21, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Hey Redspize...I'am very happy she has agreeded to fly. What a releif for you! Check these websites out for transportation www.newyorktransportation.com also www.nyairportservice.com I had looked into these before but I might just stick with my local car service. Also here are also some #'s for limos 18883213255 & 18003080079. Hope this information was helpful. In Port Canaveral we will be going to Universal Studios and at the Bahammas we will be going to Atlantis. Some of my co-workers had gone in the past and said it was a must see!! Key West is our problem. We know what we want to do. We want to charter a boat to take us snorkeling at the living reef and to take us to the dolphin playground. The only this is that there are sooo many charter companies I don't know which one to choose from and its driving me NUTS. Well I got to I'am at work againg. Hope this info was helpful to you....Tina
redspize Posted May 22, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Hi Tina Thanks for info it is very helpful. I can't believe my partner is going to fly because she told me once a year so if I plan anything else plan on it being driving. I found a great airfare to New York LGA and just told her. She just said okay and I was in seventh heaven. Tina your plans sound good. I thought of Universal but don't know if that is enough time. So looking at this web site review on the Dawn they have one formal night so I guess I must still bring dress clothes. Aalso no jeans or shorts in the dinning rooms after 6PM. I don't mind dressing up occassionally but Robin is really happy in Jean or Jean shorts. Well Tina I am a nurse and Robin has been a Cook in a nursing home and is now a Chef's assistant. I work at a nursing facility for physically and mental haandicapped children. Believe it or not of the two of us I am the quiet on. Robin is very personable and has a wonderful sense of humor, she is always making people laugh. I am sorry you well have to wait to we meet to find out for yourself since she has no idea about this. Today Robin got a mailing from r family about the cruise I thought they sent her something by mistake but it was just a flier about the cruise. I think they got name off Advocate magazine mailing list. When I was on our last cruise I wanted to do fishing charter but couldn't figure out what to do and being two women alone I was afraid to book it so we went tubing through caves instead and had a great time with a group I meet before the cruise on-line. Well better go before Robin starts looking for me. Have a great night. sandrye Posted May 23, 2004 #21 Share Posted May 23, 2004 Hi Redspize..no problem with that info..anything else just let me know. I think we will have enough of time at Universal. Just make sure you purchase the express pass. This is the only excursion I will buy from NCl. Its a little expensive but worth it because of the transportation issue and if you buy from the ship and they run late the ship CAN NOT leave without you. If you go on your own and your late your screwed!! Dressing up is ok for me because we don't get to do it here often enough.I'am going to bring 1 dress for formal night,1 pant suit for informal night and just some slacks and dress shirts for the rest (like I'am going to work clothes). Sandrye will be bringing 1 dress formal pant suit for formal night and god only know what else(lol). Kool Robin was a cook in a nursing home..so she can tell you what kind of job I have (crazy at times)Great on her becoming an assistant cook...what kind of food doese she specialize in? I'am not a cook for a living (but sometimes have to) but do love to cook. Hats off to your job...you must have a big heart and alot of patience!!! I know what you mean about being a little afraid about hiring a charter. It's 2 women and a child for me,but I will go with a charter whom has been around for a while with a good reputation, and theres still too many to choose from. Thats it for now...I need to get some work done..lol..hope you have a great day....Tina
sandrye Posted May 23, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 23, 2004 Hi Vespagirl...Where in NJ are you from? My boss I think lives in Red Bank. I usally go to Wildwood during the summer. You can go to www.keywest.com even try www.gaykeywest.com I have more sites but there at home and I'am at work right now. I'll try and give them to you later. But those 2 are good you just start surfing through them. There is one 1 I think called Venus that does lesbian only charters. I found about 80 charters!!! AHHHHH!!!...lol> I hope this info was helpful..I got to go for now. Have a great day...Tina
redspize Posted May 25, 2004 #23 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Hi everyone Tina thanks for the info has been very helpful. Time is moving slowly right now, wish I was leaving on cruise this Sunday. Work is very busy the kids get sick with the change of weather and the way the weather is here lately has most of them sick. One of the girls I work with just got back from Key West today so that makes me want to go back even more. I can't believe more people aren't responding as we get closer. Is it going to be just all of us and all Rosie and Kelli's special guest. It looks like we are going to have many different types of options with educational and fun seminars offered. Must go but well check in later. I checked the other message boards and even posted a Roll Call and hardly NO responses!!! Weird right? Been really busy here I started a backyard project and just can't seem to finish it because its been raining almost everynight here(rain+dirt=mud..yuk) What did your friends do at Key West? Only 45 days left!!! YA-HOOOO We can't wait...I have to go and get ready for work, have a great day. Till the next post...Tina
redspize Posted May 27, 2004 #25 Share Posted May 27, 2004 Hi Tina I was looking at other message board and see no one is posting. I did see one post that was really against Rosie and wouldn't come on cruise and didn't think her business would do well like her magazine. They are the losers I think. Rosie has done alot of work to help people and support all of us. I love her and my partner Robin loves her alot more. I think her only problem is the fact she is saying family alot of people without kids don't want to be with kids. I have grown kids but don't mind being around kids as long as they belong to someone else. I am around kids everyday. My frieend that was in Key West just had a wedding here with her partner and they honeymooned in the Keys. They stayed at a womens only bed and breakfast and had a great time. The only thing negative was it was a clothing optional place and she said some of the women should have left the clothes on. Her and her partner left there on when they left the room she said. We are having alot of flooding around here so yes water and dirt is mud. Hope you get your yardwork done soon. We got our done before the rain and are very greatful for that. I bet your son is really getting excited about this trip. Looks like he well also have a great time. Alot for kids to do. Vespagirl, tell us alittle about youself and your partner. Your teenager have to be so happy about this I don't know to many people who would bring them with them they usually go to get a break from them. I can say that because my boys are in late 20's now. Zachnyc, you are not talkative or just have nothing to say? Well I must go as I have some running to do today as I got the day off and need to get some things done around here.
