Cruise Cash Confusion

It is beyond me why anyone would purchase this to start with. Well, maybe if the person was a spender and was afraid they would not save up enough money for their cruise by the time they were leaving. I know a few people who could use the "Cruise Cash" service!

If it gave you maybe a $1.10 credit for every $1 bought I could understand it.

I'm doing it because the hubby is not cruising with me and he is my personal banker. When he's with me I can get whatever I want. When he's not with me he will give me money to take along and when it's gone, it's gone. With the cruise cash I have my stash and then he'll also give me cash. He declares he spent a whole lot of money on our cruise this past March, but since it was a charter we didn't have the cheers program so the bulk of the money went to drinks.

So you can purchase cruise cash BEFORE your trip and have it waiting on your S&S card when you check in?

My wife and I are going on our first cruise this next December and it would be great if we could put a little bit on it each month so it's waiting for us when we arrive.

If you pre-purchase, do you have to specify who's S&S card it goes on? Or would the wife and I share a single account?

Yes! Put a little away each month for yourselves:). Just make sure you buy the regular cruise cash, not the cruise cash photo or cruise cash bar. Those can only be used for photos or the bar. The regular cruise cash can be used for just about anything including taxes and gratuity. Anything that goes on your S&S card it can be used for......BUT....you cannot get what is leftover. The only way around it is if you have unspent $$, go to the casino, add that amt of cash and then play a round and cash out.

We are sailing on the Liberty May 9th....YEAh!!! We booked our trip at the end of October 2013... Every Friday I would go onto carnival's cite and purchase cruise cash. We have 1,000 dollar credit before boarding!! I look at it as saving money for your vacation...but it is ready and waiting for you on your S&S account when you arrive. CC can be used for anything on board. Happy sailings!!!

Do you see you cruise cash balance anywhere on you reservation online? Or do they tell you your balance when you check in?

I couldn't find it anywhere and they'll probably tell you when you check-in, but I keep track using my confirmation emails. I also put the confirmation no. amount and date paid on a separate list.

It does not show anywhere on your reservation (the old funship dollars did) but you will receive a rec't in your cabin for each amount that you applied and it will be on your account when you get there. I always bring my confimation emails and match them up to make sure all has been applied correctly. I have never had an issue but do this as a check.

Sorry if this has been asked 100 times. I leave for a 11 day in a few days and I have always used my debit card for my S&S and placed a good chunk of cash down to cover daily expenditures. Since Im gone for several days more this time I thought about using the cruise cash. I called carnival with some questions...

Cruise cash is non-refundable... they confirmed this.

Can cruise cash be used to buy shore excursions, she said no.

Can cruise cash be used to purchase the bottomless bubbles or bar package... she said no.

Can cruise cash be used in the casino? I was thinking of taking cash out the night before if I had a balance or use it to play slots etc during the cruise, she could not find an answer.

This "cruise cash" doesn't really sound like cash at all now, whats your experience with this?

Thanks!

You can apply cruise cash to your Sail & Sign account and then charge the usual things to your Sail & Sign. So by doing that, you can use it for excursions, Cheers, drinks, or to buy things in the gift shop. Just be sure not to buy more cruise cash than you need because it isn't refundable.

Why not just use a credit card?

Why must you understand? It's a convenience for me especially not having my honey along to give me money. It's your choice not to do it and it's my choice to do it.
